Ganglion Cyst and Mucoid Degeneration

Ganglion Cyst is a harmless jelly-like fluid swelling. It can be present in the knee joint, commonly around ACL. The ACL substance sometimes swells up due to degeneration and it is called mucoid degeneration.  The same can be seen even in meniscus. It’s commonly reported as radiological findings in MRI.  It rarely can be troublesome in restricting knee bending or straightening, some times there is pain on standing or even during sleep.

If it is constantly troublesome, cure can be achieved by the following means :

  • Arthroscopic Debridement of ACL
  • Arthroscopic ACL Reconstruction
  • Arthroscopic Bony Notchplasty

Methods of the above treatment will be appropriate for an individual depending on multiple factors which would then be evaluated by the Knee Specialist at Ortho One.
