Dr. S. Gopal Krishnan, M.D.
A pioneer in joint replacement and an expert Arthroscopic Surgeon, S. Gopal Krishnan, M.D. received his medical degree from Christian Medical School in India. He went on to complete his residency in Orthopedic Surgery and a Fellowship in Rehabilitation Medicine at Harlem Hospital Center in New York.
S. Gopal Krishnan, M.D. opened his practice in Weslaco in 1973 and has many firsts to his credit. He brought orthopaedics to the Mid Valley, was a pioneer in joint replacement (first ones in 1973), and he introduced arthroscopy to South Texas (in 1978).
Dr. Krishnan is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, International Arthroscopy Association, Western Orthopaedic Association, American College of Forensic Examiners, The International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery & Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Disability Evaluation Physicians.
Dr. Krishnan has served in numerous medical staff leadership positions, including Chief of Staff and the Chief of Surgery. In addition, Dr. Krishnan has devoted his time to medical staff committee membership, serving on the Executive Committee, Credentials Committee, Emergency Room Committee and as the Medical Director for Rehabilitation Services.
